Megatron Inks Extension

BATAVIA, IL

In the waning days of the 2012 league year, the Batavia Colliders came to terms with Calvin Johnson on a contract extension that will keep him in Batavia through 2016.

This guy is a freaking beast.

Johnson was entering his 4th season of a 5-year deal, and was set to make $31.88. The restructured deal gives the Colliders a little cap relief in 2013, as Johnson will now earn $29.70. The new four-year deal is worth a total of $143.15, and both sides expect Johnson to complete the contract.

“I’d love to retire a Collider,” quipped Megatron, “Who knows if this is my last deal? I’d like to help my teammates win a couple of titles in the next four years.”

Johnson was the #2 receiver in the Immersion last season, and is expected to be in the top-5 next year as well. Given his track record, management felt confident about adding the extra years.

“It’s Megatron,” said Colliders’ owner Josh Hammond. “I’d rather give him the money than some bum running back like Alfred Morris.”

Was that a swipe at Alfred Morris? Or the Silvertips in general? Or both? At any rate, the Colliders have had an eventful offseason with trades, retirements, and franchise tags. Are they the right moves? Yes. Yes they are.
