This is becoming a theme.
The Colliders scored the most points in the league in week 1, just as they did last season. Unlike last year, though, it was the defense that carried the team to victory, scoring 99.25 points of the 186.11 point-total. They easily handled Ben Pershey’s startup Cleveland Battery.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Colliders got production out of the QB position, as usual. Aaron Rodgers started the game and scored 18.30 points, but the backup QB looked even better. Colin Kaepernick threw for over 400 yards en route to a 22.66 point game. Is there a QB controversy brewing? If Kaepernick is a top-10 QB this year, then he will hold out for more money, and with Rodgers scheduled to make over $65 next year, a changing of the guard may be on the way. This, of course, is nothing more than speculation by one humble reporter.
Newly (and cheaply) acquired tight end Jordan Cameron scored 17.70 points, and could be the long term answer at the position. He easily outperformed Greg Olsen, who was acquired from the Silvertips in the offseason.
A few players turned in disappointing performances, including WR Calvin Johnson, who had yet another touchdown overturned. Running Backs Arian Foster and Doug Martin turned in decent performances, but both were held to single digit scores.
The stars came out on the defensive side of the ball, however. The Game Ball went to CB Charles Tillman, who has been the best corner in the league for a few years now. Tillman scored two interceptions en route to a 22.05 point performance.
Coach Hammond was most pleased, however, with the performance of his defensive line. Last season the Colliders struggled to get any kind of consistent performances out of their defensive tackles and ends. This year they bought low, and so far it’s paying off. Tackle Dontari Poe destroyed the Jags’ offensive line, scoring 17.75 points. One dollar DE Lamarr Houston chipped in 11.25 points. Backup DE Justin Tuck, another one dollar wonder, scored 12 points on the bench. The Colliders look to be as deep on the defensive line as they have ever been, and they are paying virtually nothing for all that production.
Historically, the linebackers have been the strength of the Colliders’ defense. This week, three of the four starters were held to single digits, but 2012 first round draft pick Lavonte David scored a nifty 18.85 points. He made a stupid penalty in the final seconds of the game, which cost his real team the victory, but it didn’t matter for fantasy. So booya.
The Colliders face a surprisingly potent Bestine Banthas squad in week two. Coach Hammond has been warning his team about a letdown.
“Don’t have a letdown,” he said to his team. “I’m warning you.”

Nicely done. I might do this occasionally, as soon as my team starts winning …
BTW, the biggest move I ever regret in the SCUFFLE was getting rid of Peanut … oh WHY OH WHY?
And my regret is that I only signed him to a one year deal. Now that I’ve exhausted my franchise tag on him twice, he’ll get to hit the open market next offseason.
You could trade him to me …
For 3 first rounders.
