Colliders’ Corner – Week 2

BOX SCORE

After Jonathan Marcot of CornChutes fame noticed a scoring mistake,  the Colliders ended up finishing second in scoring in the week 1 recalculation.

They were not amused.

Game Ball – Aaron Rodgers

The Colliders offense carried the day this time around, as the tone was set by their All-World QB Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers threw for 480 yards and 4 TDs, putting the so-called QB controversy to rest – Colin Kaepernick finished with negative points, proving that he’s not quite ready for the big time. Rodgers earned the Game Ball this week.

The wide receivers did their part, as Julio Jones and Calvin Johnson each put up 22 points. Running back Doug Martin rushed for 144 yards but failed to find the end zone. Meanwhile, Arian Foster improved on a quiet game by scoring a late touchdown and the game-tying 2-point conversion. Tight end Jordan Cameron was targeted a bunch, and he put up a respectable 8 points.

The defense did not carry the team this week, but they still put up a lot of points. They were led by DT Dontari Poe, who continues to be the highest scoring defensive tackle in the league.

“Best $4 I ever spent,” said GM Josh Hammond.

Linebacker Daryl Smith also put up a strong performance, though his linebacking counterparts did not.

All in all, the Colliders were the highest scoring team in the league (for real this time.) They trail the surprising Oregon Dream Team in overall scoring by 0.61 points. Those two teams are dominant, with the next closest team being about 30 points behind.

Batavia, who did not have a letdown after week 1, face another 2-0 team in the Silvertips this week. In fact, the only undefeated teams left are the Colliders, Silvertips, and Dream Team.

Many analysts expected the Colliders to be here. But the Silvertips? The Em Effing Dream Team? Not so much.

“Weldin’s a good dude,” said Hammond. “But we’re still going to do our best to make him cry this week.”
