Blockbuster QB Trade

According to the Batavia Colliders’ official twitter account, Aaron Rodgers has been traded to the (r)EvoLUtion for Russell Wilson. RB Khiry Robinson and S Baccari Rambo are headed to Fransburg as well.

Sources inside Colliders’ headquarters say that GM Josh Hammond didn’t want to pay the cap penalty to cut them.

Rodgers is entering the final year of his restructured deal with the Colliders, and was set to make $65. After spending most of 2013 on IR, he’s due to receive a substantial pay cut. The (r)EvoLUtion undoubtedly made the move with designs on extending Rodgers themselves, and they can extend him for the rest of his career, especially given the savings in the first two years of his new deal (Rodgers will most likely be holding out for more money after 2 seasons with the (r)EvoLUtion.)

Russell Wilson was originally drafted by the Colliders, and was moved to Fransburg for a first rounder. Wilson will be given the chance to compete with Colin Kaepernick for the newly available starting QB position.

Moving Rodgers was more than a salary dump, however. The Colliders moved up from the 11th pick in this year’s draft to the 4th – and they pocketed Fransburg’s first round pick next season.

The Colliders have 3 first round picks this season (4th, 5th, and 10th) and three first round picks in 2015.

For their part, the (r)EvoLUtion have made a big statement, and will have a top-3 QB for years to come at a cut rate price.

It looks like a win for all sides.

  1. Man, most of you are having solid offseasons. Meanwhile I’ve got virtually nothing accomplished and instead have 3 a-holes holding out on me. Feel like I’m getting my ass kicked …

  2. Yeah, I thought you were screwed last season with holdouts and whatnot, and then you did some pretty nifty cap massaging and made some solid trades. I feel like you’ll figure it out.
