Colliders’ Corner – Week 10

BATAVIA LOSES AG-  WAIT, WHAT?

Somehow Cam Newton was good and engineered a come from behind victory?

BOX SCORE

Confused fans milled about aimlessly after a 150 – 145 victory over the Dream Team.

“What just happened?” said one fan. The sentiment was shared by many.

Prior to the Thursday game, Coach Hammond saw that DT Sheldon Richardson was still banged up, so he rushed to the waiver wire to sign his teammate, Jarran Reed at the exorbitant price of $5.50. Reed had averaged 7.66 points per game, and had come off of back-to-back 8+ point outings. Because this is the Colliders, though, Reed was injured early in the game (scoring 0) and didn’t return. Richardson? Oh yeah, he had a fumble recovery and scored 11 on the bench.

In the Monday night game, the Colliders had Mercurial Cam and the Dream Team had his TE, Ed Dickson. Cam needed to outperform Dickson by a lot to secure the win, so when his first TD pass went to Dickson, Coach Hammond chuckled ruefully to himself and went to bed.

Imagine his surprise, then, when he woke up in the morning to see that the Colliders had won. Disbelieving what he saw, Hammond made some coffee and waited for the caffeine to kick in before assessing the situation.

“What is this strange and unfamiliar feeling?” Hammond asked the reporter seeking comment on his victory.

“That’s hope,” the reporter said. “That’s happiness.”

“Huh,” said Hammond as he sipped his coffee. “I’ll be damned.”

If the Colliders win out, and the Krakens lose out, then Batavia makes the playoffs and avoids relegation.
