Surprising nobody, the Batavia Colliders used the franchise tag on wide receiver Antonio Brown. It marks the second year the Colliders have done so, and sets up Brown for unrestricted free agency following this season.
The move was seen as necessary by many, especially given the departure of Julio Jones. Without Brown, the only other receivers are Christian Kirk and Robby Anderson.
“Obviously, the position still needs work,” said Colliders’ owner Josh Hammond. “We’ll be active in free agency and the draft. Bringing Antonio back gives us a bit of stability, assuming he doesn’t tank in Oakland.”
Batavia has lost several pieces from their championship team of a year ago, and questions swirl as to whether they can reload and be relevant.
Asked about the timing of the move, Hammond had this to say: “We waited as long as we could to make sure he didn’t get hurt or self-immolate. But I’ve got things I have to go to both tomorrow and Friday, and I didn’t want to forget to sign him before the Saturday deadline. That would have been a monumental boner.”

The real hero of this article is the last sentence.
Ha!
Julio Jones will be right behind him …
Hey, good omen that he’s already missed all of training camp with frostbite because he didn’t wear shoes to the cryotherapy chamber.
And the helmet saga … never a dull moment at least …
I hope for one of the following outcomes:
1) He gets his act together and is a top-5 receiver.
2) He retires and I don’t have to take a cap hit.
