The Colliders made some bold, if expected, moves in advance of the new league year (June 15th). They signed RB David Montgomery, a former second pick overall, to a one-year option deal for $23.73. They also signed LB Devin White, taken 10th in the same draft, for $15.81, a team-friendly deal for a former defensive MVP.
To make room for the signings, they cut WR Tyler Boyd, who was one promising but eventually phased out of the WR rotation and LB Alexander Johnson, who is currently a man without a team.
“Some owners like to hold on to NFL free agents well into the season,” said owner Josh Hammond. “I’m built different. If you’re not good enough to be on an NFL team, you’re not good enough to be a Collider.”
When asked about the glaring weakness at the RB position, Hammond said, “Montgomery is a start. But by no means have we written the final chapter.”
Then he winked at the camera, in a very cool way, and said, “Stay tuned.”
