BATAVIA, IL
Accident-prone defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul was waived early Wednesday morning after reports surfaced that he might require neck surgery following a single-vehicle crash.
Pierre-Paul was entering the final year of a three-year contract – a contract he outperformed last season, finishing in the top-10 among defensive ends in scoring. Subsequently, Pierre-Paul was holding out for $9.00.
Look, we probably wouldn’t have paid him his holdout demands, so he would have been sitting on our bench for the first seven weeks of the season anyway. We’re excited about Trey Flowers and Marcus Davenport. This decision wasn’t difficult. It’s not like we’re…shorthanded at defensive end.

Jason Pierre- Paul joins former (r)EvoLUtion linebacker Matt Milano as defenders who gambled on themselves and lost. Like JPP, Milano finished in the top-10 at his position, held out, and was cut by his team. Both players become unrestricted free agents.
The move clears $3.58 in cap space for the Colliders.
