An Open Letter to Marshfield Pirates Fans

We in this organization, and all of DownState Illinois wish to apologize to all Pirates fans and citizens greater Marshfield area. On Monday night, despite having the game, Division championship, final playoff berth, and league scoring record well in hand, our head coach, Jonathan Marcot, chose to start Jarvis Landry, who then scored nearly 10 more points. I want to make it clear that running up the score is contrary to our beliefs and way of life in DownState Illinois. Coach Marcot’s actions are reprehensible, and not reflective of the values to which this organization strives to adhere.

We are currently considering a range of disciplinary actions against Coach Marcot, including fines, suspension, and even termination of his tenure as Head Coach. It goes without saying that we are dismayed about many of his decisions throughout the season, but this is by far the most egregious.

We in the CornChutes organization feel fortunate to have broken the league scoring record this week, which the rEvo(LU)tion held for these past three weeks. We congratulate the Marshfield Pirates on an exceptional season. The Pirates are a great, great team, so we also consider consider ourselves very lucky to have beaten them. Twice.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Marcot
