2023 Week 3 Preview

Steelers DE Alex Highsmith heads to the endzone on the first play from scrimmage on MNF.

Winners

Fransburg (2-0), Bestine (1-1), Oregon (2-0), Batavia (2-0), Marshfield (2-0), Holley (2-0)

Culver City with two tough losses to start the season.

Prediction Record

Last week’s record: 2-4

Overall record: 6-6 (.500)

Not such a great week in prediction land. Bestine answered the critic by scoring the most points.

Culver City

SILVER

The Gold remains the same four. Cleveland is plummeting with no bottom in sight.

Week 3 Matchups

No one wants to hear about the rough week coming down on Cleveland fans, so let’s focus on some good news. The younger Pershey kid had her best softball game as she handled third base like Brooks Robinson. The older one started his first job at the local hardware store and got all signed up to go to Costa Rica next spring to study sea turtles. I’m not going to let Nick Chubb’s injury ruin those highlights. On to the predictions

Holley Hawks (2-0) @ Marshfield Pirates (2-0)

Look for these teams to match up well defensively and at young WRs. The difference might be a strong game from RB Walker III and a weak game from QB Wilson. Jeremy keeps moving forward in the league, proving he is championship worthy against a surprisingly undefeated Pirates squad.

Bestine Banthas (1-1) @ Cleveland Battery (0-2)

Bestine’s week 2 performance spells trouble as the Battery tries to avoid another loss. The Battery’s defense has let down the potential of the offense. Bestine is just too well-balanced. Even if the Battery pulls out a close one, which I am betting against, expect a strong season from Ryan as he starts a winning streak.

Tooz Town GIMB (1-1) @ North Point Chitons (0-2)

NO WAY in hell that the Chitons win this game, even though the fantasy preview has this as close as a point and a half. Matt hit on a great RB with Bijan and has him surrounded with a solid cast. Nothing else to say. If I am wrong on this, I’ll eat my hat.

Linn County Lumberjacks (0-2) @ Batavia Colliders (2-0)

CMC, Justin Jefferson, and a strong week from Trevor Lawrence will keep Jesse seeking his first win into next week. It is sad to see Micah Parsons on the Lumberjacks. The only hope is if Detroit’s combo of WR Josh Reynolds and RB Jahmyr Gibbs see the endzone and QB Geno Smith gets things going through the air – I doubt this outcome. Batavia might go undefeated this season.

Madtown Marauders (0-2) @ Oregon Dream Team (2-0)

Matt can only count on QB Justin Herbert to give consistent points week to week. Meanwhile, ODT might be in this for the long haul with some real contributors on defense and offense. My personal hope is that QB Watson finds his previous form on the field, but his antics including multiple personal fouls might hinder a true comeback. Look for Tim to go to 3-0.

Fransburg (r)EvoLUtion (2-0) @ Culver City Krakens (0-2)

Adam goes down to Jonathan in this classic matchup that isn’t resolved until the final quarter of Monday night’s games, particularly the Rams v Bengals, as both Fransburg and Culver City have significant players in that game. This really is a great game on paper and I will be keeping a close eye to see how it plays out. All-time series record between these two is 7-6 in favor of Culver City.

In Closing

Enjoy the games this week. Go Niners? Who Dey? Here we go Brownies, here we go, woof, woof…

  1. I love it!

Sounds like the kids are doing very cool things these days. G is playing the hot corner? She must have a cannon for an arm. And studying sea turtles sounds amazing. How’d he get that gig?

I like the Colliders pick, seems smart. I’ll be more confident if Austin Ekeler ever plays again. Running backs are going down like crazy this year!
